This 37-minute DVD is part of the Developing Positive Parental Influences parent training component of the Creating Lasting Family Connections Curriculum (CLFC), a curriculum for promoting the healthy development of youth at risk for alcohol and other drug abuse. It discusses how and why many people fail to recognize symptoms of alcoholism (or any form of chemical dependency) among family and friends in the early stages, illustrates and eliminates the doubt about a loved one's need for alcoholism assessment or treatment, and clearly defines alcoholism and chemical dependency. A card is also included that explains the CLFC curriculum series. (Author abstract modified)
