The authors of this article discuss the need to raise awareness and spark an open dialogue about social work practice with men. Although it is important to focus on the mental health needs of vulnerable populations such as women and children, it is also important to consider the impact of men's mental health on individuals, families, and communities. The authors document the prevalence of common mental health issues among men in the United States, consider some unique problems that men face, and discuss how social workers can do more to help improve men's mental health.
