Over 1.5 million children in this country currently have one or both of their parents incarcerated. In addition to the trauma of this loss, these children face tremendous uncertainty in their living arrangements, relationships with loved ones, and family financial stability. The quality of the relationship between a mother and father is important for understanding their coparenting behavior (i.e., shared decision making about the well-being of a child). Research suggests that better mother-father relationships and higher quality coparenting relationships go hand in hand, and the quality of each of these relationships is important for children's well-being. This fact sheet discusses the importance and implications of couple relationship quality for father' coparenting. (Author abstract)

Alcohol abuse rates for men declined in the late 1980s, but increased between 1990 and 2000. This fact sheet discusses the implications of alcohol abuse on fathers, their relationships with their children, as well as implications for their spouses or partners. (Author abstract)
In 2006, there were almost 36 million immigrants in the U.S., representing over 12 percent of the population. Immigrant parents represent a diverse group from across the globe, and the population of immigrant fathers has varied characteristics. Immigrant fathers are less likely than native-born fathers to have a high school education--a factor associated with lower income--but immigrant fathers are also more likely to reside with their children--due to marriage or cohabitation. This fact sheet discusses the implications of immigrant fathers' diversity and its impact on involvement with…
How men feel about a pregnancy and their support for partners during pregnancies have implications for their involvement with infants and children.
