Starting a conversation with another parent can sometimes be a little intimidating. Dads can feel a little awkward in starting or carrying on a parenting conversation, particularly if they don't know the other person in that conversation well (or at all). This fact sheet offers tips on connecting with other parents including finding other dads with similar interests, the best ways to initiate contact, as well as what kinds of conversations to have with women with children. Journal Article Using data from a longitudinal study of employed women before and after pregnancy, the authors look at 490 married mothers of infants working full time to determine the relationship of husband supportiveness to their well-being. A substantial relationship was found between perceptions of husband supportiveness and women's reports of their well-being However, although most respondents reported that their husbands were supportive, they did not report high levels of concrete help from them.
