Journal Article This article introduces a successful reading program, Family Connections, for incarcerated parents and their children. A comprehensive review of the literature supports the need to implement prison programs from an ecological perspective, in which the needs of inmates and their families are considered. Journal Article The development of the San Diego Military Family Collaborative, comprised of more than 400 representatives from over 80 unique public, private, faith-based, military, and governmental organizations, is described. Strategies the Collaborative is using to coordinate efforts to support military families are discussed, and their long-term goal of aligning shared measurement and activities in child abuse and neglect prevention is emphasized. 6 references.

Journal Article This article highlights the success of the Santa Barbara Network of Family Resource Centers that has worked with leadership from First 5 Santa Barbara to establish partnerships and practices that strengthen families and communities. Their collaborative embeds the Strengthening Families Framework into programs and services throughout the county and has resulted in a new initiative aimed at increasing fathers' positive involvement in the lives of their children.

Journal Article This paper seeks to add to the literature on working with fathers by focusing on early intervention. It draws on research into fathers involved in a home visitation service delivered by the Family Nurse Partnership in England and evaluates the men's experiences of the intervention. The vulnerability of fathers was striking and many were helped to develop their practical skills and confidence in caring for their babies. Journal Article Legal and social service systems rarely acknowledge the status of men as fathers in the conceptualization and delivery of interventions for intimate partner violence (IPV). Large percentages of men who are arrested and mandated to intervention programs for IPV are fathers who continue to live with or have consistent contact with their young children despite aggression and substance use. Journal Article The purpose of this exploratory focus group study was to examine child welfare professionals' (n = 22) experiences with and perspectives towards working with fathers. The six themes that emerged from the thematic analysis contrasted sharply with earlier research findings and indicated that child welfare professionals skillfully engage fathers and that some fathers trust the system and are motivated to be involved.
