Get Involved
As a dad there are lots of opportunities for you to get involved in your child’s life. From helping chaperone the school trip, to reading together, to coaching the Little League team, take advantage of the time you can spend together!
Becoming more involved in your child's life can take a lot of different forms. At every stage you children can benefit from your involvement. Read with young children. Join the elementary school parent teacher organization. Chaperone a school event. Volunteer as a coach, or as you child's coach in what way they could use your help. Take a rainy Saturday and turn it into a family movie night.
Make sure to take into consideration your child's interests and strengths. You may be a great soccer coach, but if your child is more interested in taking a dance class look into being involved in planning the recital, or helping find costumes. Does your teenage spend nights reading instead of talking at the dinner table? Consider reading the same books, or type of books, and talk about what you read. Is your tween more interested in video games then sports? Ask your child to teach you how to play.
Take time to be a positive and supporting part of your child's life. The resources and links here are a great starting place to learn more.
